In Massachusetts, private jetties, like docks, are required

to be licensed. When a jetty is licensed, the licensee, then owns the

structure and has the right to maintain and repair it.

So technically, when you are standing on a jetty or a dock, you may be

standing on someone's private property.

As mentioned before, the best course of action is to be polite and clean up

after yourself.
