Ummm, the way I've read the pier and jettie regs, if the structure impedes passage, then it has to provide sufficient clearance to walk beneath it, and barring that, then it's okay to go over it.

Apparently there is a proposal before the Town of Barnstable to do away with new piers. The local realtors are up in arms. I'll keep the board posted.

The interesting point raised earlier in the thread (other than my zipper), is the concept of what sounds like eminent domain, or right of way. A few Cotuit beaches now carry "Walkers Welcome" signs, which apparently, if I read Gene Bourque's piece correct
ly, gets the property owner off the hook so to speak.
