I've been a little more active on this month's BBS than usual, but I just have one more question for our assembled group of experts here.
This is fresh water related.
Again this week, I heard an uninformed fishing person blame the downfall of fishing in a local pond on one of the many cranberry bogs we have here in SE Mass, that abuts it's shores. Though I don't believe that to be the cause, (try fishing and boating pr
essure + acid rain) it does raise some important questions. Since I don't know the facts, I thought someone out there could enlighten me on a few things. Especially since I just bought a house (with a well) that is yards from some rather large bogs.
Are the bog owners allowed to use chemical fertilizers and/or pesticides?
If so, how does this affect the springs, ground water, wells, and the fish?
Should we aviod eating fish in ponds that connect with these bogs?
Any ideas?
Thanx
