I have a pair of stocking foot neoprene waders that I used for many years in fresh water. I used them a couple times in salt water and they quickly developed holes in the heel from sand rubbing in my boots. Even with gaiters,it's tough to keep sand out.
I therefor recommend bootfoot if you'll be on the sand.
