August 3rd - 1st bonito

I got a gimme from above today.

1st bonito of the year off West Chop in 30' of water. After spending
a fruitless hour at dawn w/ the mosquito fleet in Vineyard Haven I
headed out at speed for West Chop, Tashmoo and points west. Right off
West Chop in the end of the calm area a pod of bonito pop up. Once cast
and I was on.

Entirely different fight in 30' of water than in 6' of water. Only one
long run, but a whole host of up and down action.

There is at least one big school of bonito in Vineyard Haven, but its a zoo after 6AM. I also saw bone's off West Chop (obviously) as well as off Tashmoo.

Nothing on the Falmouth side that I could see.
L.
