Ballistic fish missles

Dave Churbuck exclaimed "what was that?! It looked like it dropped from above" as a long lean shape entered the water from a 2 foot vertical height.
he and I were fishing off Pomponessett yesterday and saw what I thought was a spanish mackerel on its entry back into the water. We never saw its launch point.

Today, traversing Succonesset Point just past the stoney beach (Hi Bill!) I saw
another long lean shape 3' above the water in and endless arc that ended with a near vertical entry. The hang time was incredible. The silver streamlined shape, seen a half mile off was also impressive.

I've seen this before in larger size down in Florida. I've seen both King Mackerel and wahoo do the same long, high arc, hanging for what seemed like forever.

Really a special sight for the inshore Cape waters.
