I caught a 42" bass at Billingsgate shoal #1 bouy right on the edge of the drop off. Sinking line with a chartreuse rats ass just before high tide. Marked many fish on the edge of the drop off. Saturday morning they had moved 1 mile north in 50' water, so no fish on the fly rod that day. Sunday at scorton Creek, All big fish but would turn away before striking. Any ideas on getting them to hit. I tried various speeds of retrieve including stop and start. The fish were in 23' of water and were huge. sometimes two or three would follow the fly up only to turn away. Trollers with tube and worm were nailing these fish with a 48 lb one taken.
