The flats I've fished were up here in NH, and at first I got mostly follows
too. I gave up and began reeling in my line and bam! Next cast I retreived
2 hands as fast as possible and bingo. This is on the flat at the north
end of Seabrook beach. Wasn't isolated - every time I fish here they follow
anything but the fastest retrieve I can make, then they hit. Might be just a
quirk of this spot, but it may be worth a try.
