Was down at Old Harbor early this morning to catch outgoing tide before heading to
work. Every other time I've been here this year, the fish have cooperated,
but not today. No fish breaking at all and nothing near the mouth. Finally
found a bunch of small to medium sized ones up against the bank at the point
where the two creek forks divide. They were into their selective slurping
mode, but I did manage the smallest striper I've caught yet this year (8 inches).
A couple of local old-timers fishing with me said that they were "killing" them
at the same spot I was fishing, but only when the tide was well into the incoming.
Come to think of it, every time I've successfully fished this place this year was an incoming
tide, so there must be something to it.
