Slime Line Bird's Nest Blues

OK it's been a year since I got my Orvis Sly Line, and several months since I
got my SA Striper line. I have some mileage on them now, and must say if I had
a 30" fish for everytime I've screamed "F#$%ing line" at a tangle I'd be a real
happy guy. Yet, I've seen a lot of rave reviews on the things. My impression
thus far is that in situations where I don't need a stripping basket; in a marsh
where I can let the line fall into the grass, or on the deck of a boat, they're
great. They shoot like mad with a minimum of work. But when I put this stuff in
a basket and wade into the surf it's a nightmare. 3 out of four casts tangle,
then as I remove the tangle the fly sinks too deep and picks up weeds, as I
remove the weeds the surf pounds me, setting up the next tangle. I stretch the
line. I clean the line religiously. It just doesn't seem to function in a strip-
ping basket situation. I have 3 baskets; one with cones, one with cones and
astroturf and one mesh, so I don't think it's basket design. It happens with
or without a double haul. Is it me ? Does anyone know where I can find the
old, regular weight forward, ice blue Cortland intermediate line of years past?
I loved that stuff.
