Keep using those circle hooks Bill! My hookup ratio over the past week in my little pond was perhaps 75% and only 2 gut hooks out of perhaps 50 fish taken on eels.
I have noticed though that a well hooked fish, deep in a run or second run, will sometimes break free of the circle hook, an event I have guessed is due to the larger gauge steel of the circle hook ripping through the lip.
