If you fish the Flats areound Brewster, there is no big water. On a windy
day you will take some water over the bow and a spray skirt is nice, but typically
by then you will have already waded and be wet anyway. Maybe by the first of
October the water will be colder and waders will be required. My fishing has
been limited to June - September and I usually wade in a bathing suit and
flats boots. An anchor will give you more time if you want to go the bar
early or stay later, a rock actually does the job of holding the Kayak on the bar
until you want to leave. From my experience, some of the best fishing
has been after the bar floods and everybody else is long gone, so I would
recommend one.
