Hey Mark,
You get my vote. Maybe there was a bit of a misunderstanding. I'd vote for
a standard up and down the coast 36" size limit. No netting only comm rod
and reel. Do you think the comms down in the Chesapeake would go for this?
More studies to gain more knowledge. Better data to access the situation!
Unite!!
By the way John is right about overall sizes shrinking, based upon
my observation and the views of everyone I've talked to about the situation,
both recs and comms.
SOmething that bothered me based upon my experiences, the experiences of other,
and watching 1000's of fishermen chunking in the Canal was:
Quite a number of 40+" fish
Few fish between 28 -36"
I think that the powers that be acknowledge a shortage of 28+" fish along
the entire coast. I'm sure that there were local exceptions to the above.
In the past I like you do now, have sold stripers. Never on a grand scale.
You know, just enough to pay for gas, get a seafood platter at Anthony's on
the Canal, and a couple of pitchers of beer. Did I feel remorse about doing
it then - NO. Would I do it again, based on my recent experiences - NO. Does
that mean you shouldn't do it - I guess thats up to you.
