My experience last week was that the pattern was irrelevent; depth was the key.
Remember I was spin fishing w/ a jig as the weight; and various fly (clouser, Ray's fly, Larry's random bucktail creations) as the teaser.
rthe fish didn't seem particular about the pattermn, but they did want it drifted just above the bottom in the current.
I've also found that area (as well as other marsh creeks like it) easier to fish on the lower half od the tide so you can see the collapsed bank structure right under your feet. Also - having been down on the bottom of that creek last week, the banks all have holes and undercuts in them that probably hold fish in the higher half od the tide.
