Hi Larry,
I always found sandeels in Scorton Creek in Dec., Jan., and Feb. when I used
to fish for salters and salmon. Many times I kicked them up on the shore to
closely examine them. Just find a sandy bar at the head of a pool at low tide.
If you poke around, you'll probably spook some sandeels which have buried in
the sand. I never saw any numbers of juvenile American Eels there. The
predominant baitfish there were usually mummichogs and sandeels during the
winter months. When I drove by there last week I saw several guys flyfishing
the marsh. It brought back memories of all the ??FUN?? I had fishing there in
winters past! I thing Gene has the right idea.
