Fished Green Pond after dark last nite w/ fly gear on the top of the incoming tide. Started by drifting a clouser thru the channel and got a bunch of tap, tap little hits and landed 2 micro bass in the 12" variety.
Got bored of that after a bit and decided to fish the inside corner on the still high tide using a popper. In 20 minutes I had 2 massive explosions on the fly, once when it had just been sitting on the water, not moving. Missed both fish, but the adrenelin rush when the fish exploded in the calm night was something.
This AM I fished down by Nobska where Chris, Mike, and I wwre last week. AS w/ previous boating excusions down to that area I had my pick of fish casting in among the rocks, boulders and jetties. There were 3 or 4 fly fisherman on the jetties, none of which seemed to be raising fish. I only got one fish on a fly, the rest were taken on leadhead jigs fished fast and deep among the rocks. There was a nice cluster of 24"+ bass around the bass stand jetty highlit by what very possibly was my first 97 keeper. When I brought it in it appeared to be about 30" when measured against the marks on my rod.
Didn't really have time to admire it as the surge was psuhing me up against the rocks at the time so I quickly put it back in the water and moved the boat out of danger.
ON the way home I stopped at another of my spots where no one ever fished but where I always get fish. Right off Falmouth Heights; 8-10' of water, easy casting range of shore. 20" bass on every third cast, again w/ a leadhead fished deep and fast.
Someday I'm going to fish that spot from shore w/ an eeel.
