Sounds like you really "bailed 'em" as the saying goes.

By the way, I was in your neck of the woods on July 4 in the late afternoon so I scouted some of the ponds all the way down to Nobska Pt. Didn't really have much time to fish due to impending family activities. Anyway, I saw MAJOR splashes going on about 200 ft north of the Bourne's Pond inlet which lasted all of ten seconds and then disappeared. Assumed they were blues, but they could have been bass.

At Nobska, I pulled out the spinning rod and some jigs and tried a few casts from shore. One schoolie on the second cast. I had to make a quick exit because the crowds were forming for the fireworks and I wasn't keen on traffic jams. Anyway, that rip that forms off the point looks like it's crying out for eels if you can keep from hanging up on weeds and rocks.

The Cape Cod Bay side really picked up this weekend, so I'm anxious to get back down there some night this week if the work gods are willing...
