To avoid ramp cramp in Plymouth, you might try launching at Nelson Street.
take the Gooseneck Channel to the main Plymouth Harbor Channel. It's narrow
and curvy. It used to be marked by bushes. At the launch site you need 4 WD
and a tilt trailor except at high tide. You might have to pole thru shallow
water to reach the channel. I always found it worth the effort to avoid the
State launch ramp especially on weekends.
