I was blind casting a redfish flat in SC about two weeks ago when a HUGE white mouth appeared and inhaled my clouser. I thought I had the redfish of a lifetime but was puzzled that a fish that big could be invisible in 8" of water. Strange fight for a redfish though. Lots of pulling and no long runs. I had visions of a 50" redfish when a ray about the size of a garbage can lid surfaced. Big disappointment. I broke it off without much thought. Land your next one, though. The flyrod world record for rays is somewhere around 9 pounds.
