5/25 Plum Island Report

Arrived at the sand bar at 0415. Waded out to the down current side and had good success with a black sand eel pattern fished on a desd drift. At 0500 I switched to a Clouser and picked up fish more consistently. At sunrise there were fish swirling on the surface - small schoolies on every cast. I put on a popper for the visual excitement. At 0550, the rising tide forced me in to shore and over to the oceanfront. I started casting about 150 meters south of the jetty and was into fish immediatley. The action was very steady for an hour. At one point fish were breaking everywhere and there was not another fisherman in sight. I thought there would be big crowds this weekend; maybe the cool night temperatures kept the crowds away.
