I would amend it to relearn it after each serious storm. I have seen that bar change from one week to the next in the middle of the summer; especially out at the far end where the bar dips, and then you can wade at waist level to a second bar. That second bar is great as you are on a dropoff casting back at the main riverfront beach but you have less than an hour at dead low to get on it and get back.
Second comment is that however tempting an area seems to look, you don't want to be the only one on the outer bars. I know its possible to wade from the end of the sandbar across the dip I just mentioned to the second bar and then walk that bar to another dip, wade across it to the 3rd bar where all the birds hang on the outgoing tide and where the rip in the middle of the channel is.
Been there once. Swam back. Scared the hell out of myself.
