Yep Larry, that was me. We were bound to run into each other eventually.
A couple of other notes. Anyone using jigs or deep-diving lures be careful around
the base of the sandbar to about 100 ft down towards the tip. A major snag has
formed in this area about 40-50 ft out that will eat anything you bounce off the bottom. Who knows
whether it will move out anytime soon. I lost several lures before figuring out the extent of it.
Hopefully it will flush out soon, but that's probably wishful thinking. The area before the base of the bar
and the area further out towards the tip seem unaffected so far. Unless you're using depth charge line,
fly fishermen will probably be able to escape it. Of course, the other way to
escape it is to go to the flats or the beach.
The other joy this morning was discovering a slow leak in my 3 month old waders.
Then again, at the rate I fish, any notion of useful wader life is questionable.
I look forward to a night of seeking out pinhole punctures...
