6/6 Canal. A little better

Fished the mid canal area on the Cape side from 4 to 8:15 pm. Method;

drifting pogie chunks.

Picked up three bass 18", 24", and 26". The first bass came about 1 hour

after the turn east. The other two came about 1 hour before high. Not surprising.

Nothing in between. Note: the two larger fish were almost back to back

out of the same hole about 1 hour before high. I had another hard hit shortly

after on a pogie head. Set the hook, felt the fish, but was rewarded with

my pogie head still attached to the hook. Nice hard hit. This is twice in

the past month that I did not hook up when using the head. I havn't had

problems in the past.

Do you guys fish the heads? How do you hook them. I use a 7/0 short shank hook

and hook the head either through the jaw and out one nostril (to keep mouth shet)

or I hook them through both nostrils.

I also saw some fish break in front of me. I think they were blues don't know.

The fish were breaking close to high slack. Also saw a couple of nice breaks

at slack tide. Is this spring or is it fall?

Rode the bike path earlier in the afternoon. A fair amount of people fishing.

I did not see a thing. It didn't look like anthing was going on. Not too many

fishing in the evening.
