Weather was clearing so I hithched up the boat and went to Poppy to catch the high tide changing. Caught a couple schoolies in Ockway using a white bucktail (largest 20 in) Worked my way to the spit and tried fishing the channel but got fed up with the weed I kept picking up (tide still incoming.) Did some exploring, channel the goes around the island and under road was clean to cast and troll but no fish. Worked my way to the Narrows and found several spots with small bass willing to take the jig and estactic about taking a chartuse clouser. Saw on group of fish feeding on the surface with some bait they had corraled. (most small stripers but did did get a blue as well. At dusk, 1-2 past high I returned to spit and found blue fish readily taking the bucktail (one decided not to give it back) Tried drifting an eel, They liked that, but did not bite high enough to get hook. Started casting a tube worm.(you know you catch more fish when you take off the plastic hook saver) That w
as kinda exciting watching the blues hit that on the surface in the rib. NOT fun was taking hook out of bluefish in the dark. I know over lures would have good as well but I had misplaced my glasses and there was no way I was tying good knots in the dark.
