Unfortunately, rest is the best cure combined with some type of anti-inflamatory. Once the pain subsides I recommend you wear a brace on your forearm made by a company called AIRCAST. It has a small pillow of air which is compressed against the muscle where it meets the tendon and limits full travel. It will help to prevent further injury, but strengthening the muscles with mild exercise during the winter will be the most beneficial. Unfortunately I learned this first hand.
