There'd be anywhere from 10-30 birds per school diving like there's no tomorrow. The whole area between the two Woods Hole passages had maybe 20-40 birds but they were really working at it. Bits of baitfish all over.
We got 6-7 blues, kept 3 for dinner. Got tired of them chewing up fancy trolling lures. There was a boat next to us really packin'em in. Picked up the bass on small magnums with 1/2 oz sinkers. We'd cast away or alongside the birds and just let it sink while casting another rod for bluefish. A dead-slow retrieve after a 30-60 sec sink would do the trick. No keepers, though. The show broke up around 9 when the 'day crowd' showed up.
