Name Art Burton I live in East Providence RI, I started flyfishing in about 1942, with the best teachers around. Men like Al Brewster, who now lives in Centerville,Ma. Harold Gibbs, the inventor of the Gibbs Striper. Fished for 2 years about 3 nights a week before a striper was stupid enough to bite my fly, the joke of the time. I am now retired and go flyfishing 2 or 3 times a week, but only during the day. My new wife doesn't want me out at night, especially when I fish alone. I have a 1998 Chev Blazer which is setup for running the beach. I have the RI beach permit, Also belong to the RI Mobile Sportfishermens. I tie my own flies, build my own rods. I have a canoe which I usually take when I go fishing as you never know where the fish are going to appear. The canoe is great for crossing the beachways, and fishing the flats of the salt ponds. I use to do a lot of trout fishing, but have the last few years Have been saltwater flyfishing only. My son had a 23 foot formula hull with a t
ower, fishes for shark and tuna offshore, but thinks I am a pain in the butt with my flyrod, so I don't get invited too often.
One can usually find me fishing between Charlestown and Watch Hill RI. The RI plate no. is N1LRR stop and say hello if you see me. I post if I can help someone, or give suggestions, will help anyone I can all you have to do is ask. I have also found out over the years that even an old dog can find new tricks, especially on REEL-TIME. Art B.
