My name is Frank and I live in Newburyport, MA. I'm 33 years old and live with my wife Tami and our dog and cat. Mostly I fish from shore, but I also fish from a 17' Mohawk Canoe, which I roll two blocks down to the boat ramp at Joppa Flats here in Newburyport.(BTW, Greenheads are back!)I'm not partial to any method of fishing, I use conventional, spinning and fly fishing gear.
I grew up in Pelham Manor, NY and went to college in NH. I've been working for software companies in MA since 1988-- mostly in sales.
I began Surfcasting about 10 years ago when I was bitten hard by the bug while visiting Martha's Vineyard for Memorial Day weekend. I caught several Bluefish from Wasque after walking out from the Fisherman's Parking Lot with a rod and reel I borrowed from a friend. That year I also read Bob Post's wonderful book, Reading the Water and those two events combined hooked me on fishing. Since then have accumulated the typical amounts of tackle and rods.(never enough)I've fished the MV Derby since then and it is something I look forward to every year with big time anticipation. After 10 years, I finally won a Derby Pin for a second place daily in the bluefish category.(12.56lbs from Wasque)That was lots of fun.
My wife enjoys fishing as well, but not to the extremes that I do. She has been a great companion while fishing, and understanding of my absence when she's not fishing with me.
See you on the water.
