You're a lucky guy. Thankfully you were a foot or two in the right direction. You just can't afford to be complacent for one moment when your on the water.
Glad to hear you made it back in one piece. Waterlogged wood in the water is always a concern. Usually as in your case, you just have to be lucky - you don't have time to react .
