I am in favor of it if for nothing else as a public relations technique to inform people how badly most of the world stocks of fish have been depleted.

Something will have to be done soon because the stocks are at such a low level and demand continues to increase. McDonalds is now selling lobster. Tuna gets a first class tickets on airplanes to Japan. People in Iowa eat Mahi Mahi.

Look at the state of the fisheries in MA. Scup, tautog, flounder, cod, whiting, squid, bunker, bluefish, tuna, haddock, weakfish, dogfish all at critically low levels. Think back 25 years ago and picture how much the fisherery has declined in that time. Picture in your mind if it continues what it will be like 25 years in the future if it coninues at this rate. Nonexistant!

Something must be done!

Fishery management now is voodoo science at best and corrupt politics at the worst. Millions of you tax dollars are being spent but things keep getting worse. People like Phil Coates still are happy. Do something anything. Write and call your representitives in Govt. However if nothing else. don't eat the swordfish. at least it is a start.
