It was a real low tide on the flats this morning, so I spent more time than usual on
the outermost bar throwing eels. Had quite a few runs, but, alas, most of them
were either bluefish biteoffs or microbass fiddling with the bait. Plenty of fish,
both stripers and blues surfacing at
times in the cut and the channel and people were taking them at times on flies.
After tiring of serving "cocktail wieners" to the blues, I crossed back over to the
other side of the channel and switched to the fly rod. Unfortunately, the best
action had slowed down by then, and I wasn't able to raise a thing on the incoming.
Had the pleasure of meeting Reel-Timer John Hollenberg there who had a better morning
than I.
