Big fish in a rip, how?

One more somewhat frustrating trip to Middle GRound. As before bass of all sizes in the face of the rip and the flats in front of the rip. They wouldnt take an fl I could get in front of them; they wouldn't take metal. They would attack poppers, but the small ones on top would play swat the popper while the bigger ones just hung below watching.

A weighted eel yielded the same 24" stripers, not the bigger ones. Trolling w/ jigs, eels, or heav metal was a waste; other trollers did not seem to be hooking up either.

I know, I know..they didn't get to be big by chasing lures...
