Casco Bay Ruminations

Having hit the Presumpscot, Cousin's Island and Royal River recently I was getting genuinely dismayed at the prevailing conditions. However, the mackeral are definitely around the bay in numbers (i watched a good number of tinker being caught off LittleJohn Island) and, after a tip courtesy of Spar Cove folks, it seems the fish have moved out into the ledges. After fishing last night without a bump (except for several schoolies pounding bait around a local pier at midnight) I caught one nice fish on a herring pattern in Cape Elizabeth over 34". Hallelujah! Ah yes, as Tom Tero indicated, CCA-Me's Casco Bay Chapter is planning a catch and release event in August and we're always interested in assistance/feedback.
