any place where the water is moving at 2-3 knots is extremel dangerous alone in a small boat. Though the upside of rips seem flat calm, make a mistake there and your in the water and moving away from your boat at a pace faster than you can swim. Or, get an anchor line tangled around you and you drown, teathered to your boat.
