Point Judith Pond

Fished the pond Sat. night, Sun AM and height of day Sun. Lots of activity all over Sat night and Sun AM. Many strikes with no hook-ups. At first thought it was rusty hooks, lack of barbs, finnicky fish, me, but couldn't get one of at least 30 hits to hook up. They were a mix of large and small fish (I could see some of them when they hit). And they hit just about anything that I threw at them. Then, during the height of the day on Sunday, when I didn't expect anything, I landed 6 stripers and one small blue. Used small lures (mostly spinnerbaits and lead head jigs with fresh-water type mister twister grubs). Fish ranged from 10" to 24" but I was mostly surprised by how the fish wouldn't hook up on the same lures from the night before. Still don't know why. Anyone ever have the fish hit this way? I was working the upper pond around Gardener and Plato Islands and coves nearby.
