One other thing I forgot to mention before:
Has anyone else ever noticed the huge carp-like fish that cruise Joppa Flats in
about 6 inches of water? I was walking back in to shore tonight after the tide
turned, and noticed several large wakes on the surface. The fish were right in
front of the boat ramp, in that depression between shore and the rest of the flat.
At first I thought it was just a rock causing a disturbance in the current, but as I sloshed over
to it I saw a huge fish boil and take off. It definitely wasn't a striper, it
had large, prominent scales, like you see on freshwater carp. As I looked
around, I noticed a few more wakes coming my way.. When they got closer I
positioned myself in their path and again saw some pretty hefty fish.
I wonder if they would take a crab pattern?
