I was fishing Nanaquaket ( Tiverton, RI area ) and the tide was outgoing. Catching nothing at first, but then the tide started to pick up and started catching some fish. Well little did I know that above my left shoulder in the trees was an Osprey. I found this out after I hooked a small fish and he swooped down from the tree, almost hitting me in the head, grabbed my striper that i was bringing in and started to fly away with it while it was still hooked. He got up to about 30' in the air and finally dropped it. It scared the hell out of me! He did this about three more times and i decided that I was going to have to sacrifice a scoolie to keep from getting attacked by the bird. I caught another small fish and put him on the shore, no sooner did it hit the beach he came zooming out of the tree with his wings spread and snatched it up with his claws. I was about ten feet from him and was kind of nervous seeing those 3 inch claws comming at you that fast. Well he finally left after tha
t meal and I continued to fish. Got a couple more fish and then decided to head home. I thought I would have done better at that spot, but the fishing pressure was really tough! Anyone ever experience anything like this?
