Well, sort of. I was trout fishing at Walden Pond in Concord, MA once upon a
time, and a hawk came flying out of nowhere, zoomed by my head at a range of about
3 ft., and tried to grab some hapless squirrel behind me. The hawk missed and
the squirrel escaped. I think raptors like hawks and osprey get so agressive and
focussed on prey that they barely know you exist, although the repeated attempts
by the osprey that you describe seem a little bit too "out there."
