CT. River Pike

Howdy Everyone,
Just thought I would tell you guy's about a little fishin' trip I did
yesterday. I talked to my brother in law during the week about fishing the Ct. river
for some white perch, stripers, or anything that would eat. My wife was itching to
go fish so we all went to the river at about 2:00PM. We fished until 5:00PM
with blood worms and live shiners, unfortunately the part of the river we were
fishing didn't allow flyrodding so we just dunked bait. It was really nice to just
get out and fish again. We ended up with nothing on the worms but I got a big
surprise fishing the shiners. I caught my first two Northern Pike ever. The
first one was a fat female measuring 28" and a hair over 7 pounds, the second
one measured 26.5" and weighed 6 pounds. My brother in law also caught one male
that was 27.5" and weighed 6.75 pounds, all in all a pretty good day of bait
dunking in the river. It was much better than fishing the power plant for hold
over schoolies. I did hear today that a couple of friends have been catching
fish near the mouth of the Housatonic river and that there are alot of fish
up by the Derby Dam on the same river so I think all the speculation of an early
season is coming true.

Tightlines to all,
Michael Mayo
