Dear Tim,
I can't really tell you how to tell the difference, I caught a female
and a male and I couldn't really tell the difference between the two fish. The
only noticeable difference was that the female was twice as big girth wise than
the male. My brother in law wanted to keep the fish to eat so he kept the female
and one of the males, that is how I knew it was a female, when we cleaned her she
had two large squeins (sp) of eggs in her. I must say that had I known that this
fish was female carrying eggs I would have released her immediately, it bothered
me to find out that it was an egg laden female but by then it was too late.
Next time I will know.
