When When I fished a lot on the outer beach at P-town I found the bootfoot neoprenes to be too warm to wear over the mile+ jetty and too cumbersome to roll up and carry in a pack. My solution was to use stockingfoot waders with sandals (rubber and fabrick with velcro straps, like Tivas, not leather sandals). I would pack the waders and wear the sandals over the jetty and at the beach put on the waders and the sandals over them. It actually worked great for that particular application and pretty well over all. Sand would accumulate under the arch of my feet periodically, but it could be dislodged with a swish of the leg. Nor did I notice any unusual wear. Last point: For safety reasons, well documented in prior posts by others, I wear only neoprene waders. An added feature of the sandals is that they can be kicked or pulled off easily and quickly if necessary leaving you with the warmth and bouyancy of neoprene without the weight of boots.
