I've flyfished in both canoes and kayaks in salt marshes estuaries, and I have to say a canoe is better because you sit higher (for casting), stay drier, and you can carry a spare rod, an anchor, etc. You can also turn to cast without turning the boat, and you can stand up. If you email me, I'll send you an article I wrote about canoes for my club's newsletter. I never saw the December 97 thread, and I can't seem to get into the archive (error message 404).
