FYI
The older non-rim control Pleuger Medalists are of higher quality than the new rim control ones. (I suppose quality in these terms is relative. Abel's they ain't!) However I have had luck retrofitting the older versions with the newer rim control spools. A little filing here and there on the spool catch mechanism and you've got a decent combination of the older tougher reel body and a rim control spool. Most shops will tell you not to do it but for $15.00 its worth a try.
