Just to muddy the waters: an earlier misreference to "flood" tide being anabnormally high tide (rather than the state of incoming/rising water) should have been "spring" tide, which occurs when there is a full moon or a half moon causing extraordinarily high highs and low lows.

Spring tides, of course, happen all year long.
