Merrimac River/Plum Island 5-2/97

I hit Plum Island at low tide yesterday expecting to find the first fish of the year there. Co-worker had got two small schoolies, perhaps 12" long in North Andover 20 miles upriver from the mouth so the fish are in. He also reported seeing shad taken below the Lawrence dam.

As for me; nada. There was a 30-40 knot wind blowing the whole of Joppa Flats directly at the corner between the boat docks and the sandbar. I walked the beach all the way out to the end of the sandbar and got nothing, saw nothing. Given the wind blwoing things at my feet, if the fish were there I woul have expected to have picked up a couple.
