5/14/97 Plum Island/Merrimack Report

Shad are now in the Merrimack River all the way up to Lawrence. Small Stripers are
also in the Merrimack and Parker Rivers, but are being caught up river not at
the mouth. The problem is the Merrimack is both high and murky, making fishing
difficult.

Have also talked with several people who have reported stripers now being caught
as far up as the Saco river in Maine.

Have not tried Joppa Flats and would like to hear from anyone who has.
