I think to accurately reply the Brewster Flats are a very large expanse
of shoal that run almost the entire length, if not more, of Brewster.
I have fished a number of places just by walking out from shore until
the depth looks right, or I can see a whole that might hold fish and
start casting. Caught my first Striper there on my very first cast, that
got the ball rolling! Some key spots can be found just by following the roads down
to small parking lots on the beach. Most of these require parking permits
that can be obtained at the town hall, but I have always winged it without
a ticket. Names such as Crosby Lane toward the north end, and Robbins Hill
Rd to the south are popular. Parking at the end of Robbins Hill and walking
straight out will land you on the Sand Bar at low tide. Always a few fly casters
and a few boats parked out there when the tide is right. To conclude, the Flats
are everywhere, where the key points are depends on timing and searching them
out. I am still in the learning process myself here.
