Thanks to Thorne for archiving April.
To echo his amazement: BBS5 went nuts this month. We debated leaving things alone until Friday, when May officially begins, but poor old Hypermail was beginning to freak out and some of you emailed me to point out that things were getting funky. So ... let's call these first days the "Mapril Forum".
I will be in France from May 8 to May 24, and will do my best to keep an eye on things, but the French are notoriously unwired (they love their Minitel terminals) and may not be able to find a convenient cybercafe.
Couple things alarmed me in April. First, this forum is read by fishermen of all ages, so keep the language out of the toilet whenever possible. Second, we had some classic flamefests, that goes with the territory, but three years of civility is a rare thing on the Internet and I'd like to keep it rolling. I had to kill a couple forged posts -- forging someone else's words is a real no-no, please put your name on your posts.
And have fun. Traffic will indeed bump up this month thanks to some marketing moves by Thorne and Peter Jenkins. Your old-Reel-timers need to be patient with the flood of new users, most of whom will commit the sin of triple posts their first time out.
Have fun. I for one intend to fish my butt off this weekend -- last chance before France -- and I will predict that I will catch a bluefish.
That's right, a bluefish. Why not? Everything else seems two weeks ahead of schedule. The squid are in Nantucket Sound, the water temps are solidly holding above 50. If I do I will post a photo.
