Like Larry I must say that today and yesterday were just crazy but fun days to fish. We hit the canal about 630 this morning around the mussel bed with little luck. We gave it about an hour without a hit and moved to Popponesset. The waves were spectacular but the fishing stunk. No bait, no fish, nothing. Headed towards South Cape Beach about 11:30 and heard unbelievable stories of 15-20 pound bluefish on the sand during the Gale Saturday. These stories were backed up by many different people. Apparently, an Indian Chief was being buried there during the storm and many so the fish washing ashore after bait. We talked to several fisherman from the area that said these were the biggest bluefish they had ever seen. They were literally finning bait from the sand wash. The place was packed with people waiting for there return but of course they never came. We gave up after 130 pm and headed towards Scusset.
Nothing doing, a few small schoolies reported but most were twittling there thumbs and trying to keep from being blown to Boston. After an hour of watching a seal eat whatever stripers were around Scusset, we left for the Mussel bed again. Fished from 430 to 6 with 3 hits that were very weak, one schoolie, a lobster, one GIANT crab, a possum that stole most of our bait and the biggest skate I have ever seen trying to beach himself we packed it in.
I have no doubt the fish are around, the water is still warm, hopefully, a couple of calm days will bring them back.
