In releasing most of the strippers I usually only take them out of the water a
bit.Using a stainless welding rod (about 5/32) with a hook on one end and a
1" wood dowel attached to the other end, the hooked end is slid down the line
into the hook in the fishes mouth, at this time the line I'm holding with the
other hand is moved towards the fishes tail. This puts weight on the hook remover
and at the same time changes the angle of the sharp hook allowing the fish to
fall off. This is fast and results in no removal of the important slime on the
fishes body and I think less stress on the fish.
Now can anyone suggest a way to use barbless hooks when using live SAND eels- or
fresh bait in general,
with double or single droppers on the bottom. I don't do much artificial fishing
but when I do I use barbless hooks without many drops also.
